The mark of the Beast...

This guy now runs a news magazine that has a reputation for climate change denial, one must wonder at his claim to be taken seriously:

"On 14 September 2001 Mr Wishart was convicted of driving a motor vehicle on a road without an appropriate current driver licence...

[H]e argued that the provisions of the Land Transport Act dealing with photo licences were unconstitutional, because they infringed a number of provisions of the New Zealand Bill of Rights Act 1990 (NZBORA), the Bill of Rights Act 1688, and other provisions of the unwritten constitution of New Zealand. He argued that the Court should therefore intervene in his favour and declare his behaviour in carrying his old licence and separate photographic identification sufficient compliance with the Land Transport Act...

Mr Wishart said he had a very strong personal objection to photo licences. He said that this arises from the fact he is a committed Christian and, because of that, he cannot accept "the mark of the beast" (see The New Testament, Revelation, Chapter 13). He said he saw photo licences as a possible prelude to some form of identity card or even micro chip that the state would force all citizens to use."
